When we think about the minority languages of our country, have we ever ponder over the basic questions about them? What can we do to the languages which are spoken but not used in the education? How can we help the speech community to produce materials in the languages which have been used only for verbal communication and not yet written? What are some rules for writing their languages? These are some of the fundamental questions which have been our guiding principles in serving the minority language communities of Nepal. What are some of the rules for writing their languages? MTCN started in the year 2001 with the translation of booklets into different mother tongues of Nepal on the social issues like, health, awareness and empowerment etc, developed by UMN in Nepali language. In 2002 May, it further worked on the development of the resources for mother tongues in Nepal, which we called Mother Tongue Resource Center (MTRC). From 2005 to 2013 we worked for the story development in different ethnic languages of Nepal based on the real-life experience. There have been now 123 titles of the real-life stories expressed in the mother tongues.
